The Tale of Two Ribbons…

I have recently been asked what the significance of the two ribbons attached to my “dashboard”, are…

My good friends from Budapest, Panni and Tibor Molnar...

The ribbon on the left is in the colours of the Hungarian flag, and just before I left Budapest, my good friend Tibor Molnar, handed this ribbon to me and said something as near to what follows, as I can remember…:

“I may never get to visit Alaska, my friend, but take this ribbon up there for me… At least a part of us will be riding with you…!!”

The ribbon had been in his wife Panni’s car for many years, and had never left Hungary… It is now part of the many talismans I carry with me, and has come to be something of a good luck charm as well…!!

I see it every day, as it flaps about in the wind… It reminds me of the good friends I have in Budapest, and for me, also represents all the other good people I have met along the way, and whose good wishes I carry with me on my journey around the world…

The special ribbons that adorn my console...

If the first ribbon is close to my heart, the second red ribbon on the right, is tightly wrapped around it…!!

It is a recent addition, and hails from Bali… It represents the deep feelings I have for a very special woman, whose love for me is now part of what drives me on… It reminds me that “no man is an island”, and having a “significant other” in your life is the most wonderful gift , and in my case, as unexpected, as I could ever have imagined…!!

And that, for the inquisitive, is the Tale of Two Ribbons…!!

Ribbons of significance but a heart held captive by beauty – it is good to see you slowly becoming human again 🙂
Your decisions are now to be made with a very different future in mind – what an unexpected Blessing for both of you.
