I met the two Polish bikers who were on their way to Cape town… Ken lived in Australia and Dariusz was from a small town south of Warsaw in Poland…
Yeah.... These guys...!! Dariusz and Ken, two fellow GS 1200 riders, heading for Cape Town...
Ken’s ride would later come to a painful halt on the infamous road from Moyale to Isiolo, when he fell heavily and broke his leg… He had to be flown out of the northern Kenyan wilderness by rescue plane and then flown back to Australia for surgery to his shattered leg…
Dariusz rode on to Nairobi alone, and then stored both their bikes with Chris at Jungle Junction… They resumed their ride to Cape Town earlier this year and completed the African leg of their World Tour… I visited Dariusz in Poland last year, and spent a few very entertaining days with him… Days which my liver still reminds me about, each time I get a whiff of Vodka…!!
Roll the clock forward about 16 months and guess who I had lunch with in Melbourne before boarding the ferry to Tasmania…??
Yep...!! It's that man Ken...!! Holding a copy of the book Dariusz wrote, detailing their ride from Australia to Poland in 2009... Ken is preparing to ride South America to Alaska with Dariusz early next year, and may hook up with that other guy who is doing the same thing...!! You know the one...!!
The world just got even smaller…!! Great seeing you again Ken, and look forward to catching up on my return from Tasmania…!!

Bly om weer van jou te hoor!- is maar baie nevous oor die groot liefde(maar baie bly vir julle!)wat potensiaal het om jou wereld toer kort te knip!Ek moet erken,jy lyk cool in jou suit,maar ek verkies jou blou rally suit en jou bmw boots-o ja,en natuurlik Big Fella!
Ek is regtig baie bly vir jou en Patti,julle is n great couple! Moet asb nie jou wereld trip staak of verkort nie!? Daar is baie bikers wat jou beny want ek ry self motorfiets en dit sit beslis nie in enige man se broek om te doen wat jy doen nie,so vasbyt!
Ek skryf in Afrikaans en glo jy sal nie sukkel om dit te lees nie,sal jou ook so bietjie aan jou Afrikaanse ondersteuners hier in SA laat dink.
