Rory Reunion…!!

Riding on Friday the 13th…??

What was I thinking…!!

We rode in 37 degree heat, and humidity that was right up there in the 90’s….!! Not much fun…!!

We have left Kuala Lumpur and have arrived down in the southern part of Malaysia in the city of Johor Bahru… It lies directly across from the island of Singapore, which I will visit tomorrow to crack No: 78 on the GBWT Country Counter…!!

One of the reasons I have for stopping here, is to fulfil a promise I made to a great guy who spent Christmas Day with me in Wadi Rum, Jordan….

You might recall my Malaysia friend Rory, who I met at the Bedouin Meditation Camp….

Rory and I climbed up a rocky pathway to get on top of one of the rock arches in Wadi Rum Desert, Southern Jordan....

When we parted on Christmas Day, I made a promise that I would visit him in Malaysia when I passed through this part of the world…

Today I was able to fulfill that promise and am now posting this from his office in Johor Bahru… We had a happy reunion earlier this afternoon…

Trevor has left Big Red in the basement of Rory’s condo, and he and Chenty have crossed over the Causeway into Singapore to spend a final few days with Phil before he flies back home to Canada…

I will join them tomorrow and then plan my exit from Malaysia, onto the the Island of Sumatra in Indonesia… In the mean time, Rory and I have a lot of travel stories to swap…!!

Updates and photos to follow….

Great to see you catching up with friends. We arrived in Kuala Lumpur in Dec 2001 to 47 degrees and pouring (hot) rain. Can you imagine what it feels like to sweat in the rain ?
    Enjoy your stay.

I’m sure Rory was very surprised to see you standing at his office door. Glad you guys have had the time to swop stories. I would never be able to travel to Thailand and Malaysia; as you know, I would die in that kind of heat and humidity. I am enjoying the journey through your eyes. Take care! BIG hugs from all of us back home.

It was a pleasure to have met you this afternoon thanks to Rory. His picture looks great on the opening pg!
It was an inspirational encounter that words just can’t describe…listening to your stories felt like ‘watching’ a series of adventure travels on the nat geo channel. The gorillas took my breath away. How surreal. No doubt I’ll be keeping abreast of your adventures hereon. Africa has always been on my travel list, so i just might take up your offer and see you in 2013! Enjoy what the world has to offer, keep safe…and your site as updated as posso! cheers, zee

  • Hi there Zarina…!! It was great meeting you yesterday, and I enjoyed the short time we spent chatting…!! Thanks for tuning in and hope you get more “nat geo moments” catching up on the journey thus far…!! Take care and look forward to showing you the sights of South Africa if ever you get to make that “tick” on your travel list…!! R.

  • Hey Ronnie

What a great guy Rory is, it was so nice of him to take us into his home, lend us his bed, take us for dinner, share his stories, show us around Singapore. I hope he comes to Canada one day so we can return the hospitality! Thanks for sharing him with us. Isnt it amazing how “Big Fella” and “Big Red” manage to find us all these new friends around the world.
    later bud!
