Memories of Cambodia…

The following raft of photos were taken by either Trevor or Chenty Wilson during our ride through Cambodia… Or with their camera when all three of us happen to be in the same photo…!!

They serve as great memories for me, as well as a different viewpoint of my trip as seen through the lens of others…

Trevor and I have been exchanging photos since we began riding together and I now have a chance to see myself on the Big Fella from another rider’s perspective…

Here then are my memories of Cambodia…

Together again... Reunited in Pakxe, and joined by Morgan Parker...

The Big Boys get ready to tackle Cambodia...

But first a few formalities needed to be taken care of... "Please Sir...!! Can I leave Laos...?? I promise to be on my best behavior in Cambodia...!!" Buggers had me on bended knee before they let me go through...!!

Riding in Cambodia on roads that were not as smooth as those we had been used to in Southern Laos...

As usual a crowd gathers as the Big Fella stops for a drink...

From tar to gravel in a blink of an eye... This went on for most of the ride into Kratie...

Sometimes there were narrow steel bridges to cross...

..and then it was up on the pegs again... The section of road outside Kratie, on the "short-cut" to Komphong Cham was a nightmare in places...!!

Finally, at the Mekong Sunrise Hotel in Komphong Cham, I was able to get the Cambodian flag into place...

Having bumped into Morgan again, we agreed to ride to Phnom Penh together. Our bikes made for an impressive sight...!!

Our stay in the capital was memorable because of our visit to the Killing Fields and S-21, the former prison south of the city… Those memories belong in a separate part of my mind and will remain there…

And again a few days later when we were leaving the capital for Siem Reap...

Angkor Wat had been on my mind for months… It was probably the place in Asia I most wanted to see…

Posers United...!! Photo shoot in Angkor Wat...

Morgan had to run about 30 metres to get into the picture...!!

Chenty and I explore the ruins...

Confirmation that men can multi-task...!!

If it wasn't the Mozzies that were hounding me, it was the butterflies...!! Trevor snapped this one having a drink on my pip...!!

After out little recce on the first day, we were ready to buckle the rules a bit, and took our bikes into the site, to the annoyance of some tourists and the amazement of the officials, who eventually requested us to leave…

The Real Deal... We managed to sneak into the ruins and start taking a series of photographs..

GB and the Big Fella stand proudly in Angkor Wat... Another dream realised...!!

Our first meeting was in December 2010, at the extensive Roman Ruins of Palmyra in Syria, now Trevor and I sit in Angkor Wat, Cambodia...!! Who would of thought...!!

GS's in Angkor Wat, Cambodia... Eat you hearts out, fellow Bikers the world over...!!

"You guys have to work on your poses...!!" GB shows them how...!!

Can you tell that we were well pleased with ourselves...??

Heads we win...!!

We rewarded ourselves with an ice cream in this most comfortable of settings...!! It had been a day to remember... Forever...!!

GB is interviewed by Wheel-2-Wheel TV on the streets of Siem Reap...

"I don't care if he's the Prime Minister, Trev... I am not paying for parking...!!" After our visit to the floating village of Chong Khneas, we were not in the best of moods...!!

After our emotional visit to the floating village, we stopped to take a breath of fresh air...

That about sums it up, although our ride out of the country was one that we will also remember…

See my next posting….

Stunning photo’s of your trip to Cambodia, very nice memories of Trev, Chenty and Morgan. Loved the ice cream shop, great idea, maybe you and I can start something like that, here at our coast when you return back home.
