Zimbabwe’s Road Signs…

Before I take you with me into Mozambique, I thought I should share my take on a few of the road signs you will encounter throughout Zimbabwe…

Firstly, there are not too many of them… In towns and cities, there are very few street names in view…

The road signs you will see, are mostly rusted, or so faded, that the writing on them is illegible…

Yes, but has anybody bothered to tell the cattle..?? The buggers are crossing EVERYWHERE...!!!

Indeed... But try placing the sign in such a way that only one of the roads in the intersection gets the message...

Many of the road signs are not pointing in the correct direction, leading to confusion for those even mildly interested in obeying them…

Big girls harassing small boys ahead...

Some of the signs are leaning at such an angle, that they either point directly across the road or face up to the sky…

The first time I saw a sign indicating people might be crossing the road ahead, it was leaning at an angle which rather suggested that a dance party of some form was taking place around the next bend… I had already passed this particular sign and was wondering what it was all about, before I saw another which was standing vertically this time, and made a bit more sense… I should have taken a picture of the first one, but if you look at the one below, and imagine it tilted backwards, you will see what I mean by the caption…
