Heading North…

Today I will be leaving the extremely comfortable and pleasant environs of Karen, Nairobi, where I have spent the last week safely ensconced in the hospitality and generosity of Angela and Roger Gauntlett, and their two delightful daughters, Gemma and Abby, and heading north through the “Badlands of Northern Kenya”…

I have been told that Internet in Ethiopia is often not available… And in places in Sudan, non-existent! I am therefore uncertain when next an update of my travels will appear on your screens… I am also hoping that Allan will return soon from his wanderings and will be able to get to the bottom of this hacking problem we are experiencing… (No, no… not the “smokers cough”, but the little bug that some idiot has managed to embed in my website…)

I leave Nairobi this afternoon, bound for Moyale, the Big Fella will have a few tons of Pakistani’s finest rice for company, while I spend the next 30 odd hours in the cab of the truck taking us up there… I expect to reach the Ethiopian border sometime on Sunday afternoon, and from there, I ride up to Addis Ababa, 750 km north of the border…

If the roads in Ethiopia are in good nick, I will make the long ride in a single day, but I understand that the rain is also bucketing down north of the border, so who knows what the next few days will bring…

Until then…

Adios Amigos….
